| This week we catch up with Libby Christie, head of operations at Unmissable, and ask what she likes to do at the weekend...
It’s the weekend, how do you feel?
On top of the world! It’s always nice when Friday rolls around and there’s the promise of a weekend ahead. The office is good fun on a Friday afternoon with everyone excited about their plans for the weekend and if we’ve had a really hectic week we might even squeeze in a cheeky drink as the end of the day approaches!
What’s your favourite Friday night drink?
That’s the easy bit... a lovely glass of chilled white wine – preferably Viogner. The big question is where to have it! Tucked up at home, in my cozy local or in town with the rest of the ‘straight from work’ crowd!
Do you ever have to work at the weekend?
No generally not, I’m lucky enough to have my weekends to myself. We have a great work ethic at Unmissable – if you work hard whilst you’re at your desk you’ll have time to play hard while you’re away from it. There may be the odd occasion that something crops up which needs additional attention but 99% of the time your free time is exactly that!
How do you feel about it?
I feel it’s important to completely switch off from work (or at least try to) for a couple of days each week. It helps keep you fresh and allows you to enjoy some of the most important things in life. That said if some extra time is required at work to ensure we get something done to the standards we expect then it’s worth putting in the time and I’m happy to do it.
What’s your favourite weekend activity?
I love travelling so if I have an opportunity to take to Europe for a city break with my husband that’s where you’ll find me! Alternatively catching up with friends, walking through Bushy Park or even spending an afternoon cooking a lovely meal whilst enjoying a nice bottle of wine, are other favourites of mine.
If you could spend the weekend with anyone in the world, family and friends aside who would it be and why?
That is a very good question and a very difficult one. Hmmm, as I have a passion for cooking and fine dining then perhaps a top chef? Joel Robuchon, the most Michelin Starred Chef in the world, would be an interesting man to talk to, given that compared to one of his closest rivals, Gordon Ramsey, he is little known.
Where would you go?
I would like to do a tour of his restaurants, so Tokyo, New York, Vegas, Paris, Monte Carlo and London, including visiting the kitchen and a meal in each! You would need a very long weekend to squeeze all of these destinations in so a personal guided tour of any of them would suffice!
