Travel specialist Unmissable has released its predictions for winter destinations in 2009.
One of the company’s top picks is Vale in Colorado, which has implemented a range of eco initiatives to offset carbon emissions.
European destinations combining snow activities and events are also recommended. These included Gstaad, for the hot air balloon weekend, St Mortitz for snow polo and Neudorf in Germany for lederhosen sledding.
The ultimate selection, though, is Sapporo Snow Festival in Hokkaido, Japan. The festival is one of Japan’s largest winter events and attracts around two million people every year.
