Managing director Justine Clement suggests that activities should be closely linked to a company’s goals for the year and its main messages. “For activity events, give employees tasks that will give them a chance to demonstrate a variety of skills,” she says. “These events can be a great opportunity for non-management-level employees to undertake leadership roles. Ensure all activities chosen have an educational element, but always ensure the over-riding feeling is one of fun and reward.”

Team days-out may well be linked to a reward and recognition programme or – particularly when everyone is working hard during a difficult time – a fun reward in itself. “Corporate days out are a great way to thank staff for their hard work and give everyone a chance to socialise out of the hierarchy of an office environment,” Clement says. “What motivates staff more then anything if the feeling that they are appreciated by their employers. Corporate days out are a great way of doing this.”
