The sheer hassle of flying halfway
around the world can take the shine off even the most
attractive of travel incentives. P&I ask for nominations
of short haul alternatives.
ITALY – UNMISSABLE
While Italy may not be an unusual choice, experience
supplier Unmissable’s “ A Taste of Chocolate
in Italy” trip provides an experience that customers
would not organise for themselves.
Competition winners can be flown to Florence where
they will be picked up by limousine and driven to
the deluxe Villa Bordoni hotel where their junior
suite awaits them. They will find chocolates in their
room before enjoying dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
Lessons in how to cook with chocolate, a chocolate
spa session, a private wine course with a sommelier
and a coffee break with the Italian “king of
cappuccino” are just a few of the activities
on offer.
A first-class train journey to Venice for a stay
in the five-star San Clemente Palace Hotel’s
junior suite can also be arranged. In Venice, winners
can be treated to a private sweet tour with a guide,
a cocktail at Caffe Florian and Champagne and a truffles
boat trip around the city.
“This trip would make a perfect prize for a
chocolate or confectionary related product promotion
and would appeal to an ABC1 audience that has interests
in food and wine,” suggests Oliver Duval, Managing
Director at Unmissable.
For Duval, it is not only the destination that can
deliver the wow-factor for the prizewinners but what
they can actually do when they are there. “We
look to focus on the events and activities available
and Europe offers some of the best experiences. Last
year we found a higher percentage of our travel prizes
were Europe based”, he says.
