Model elephants
Over 250 brightly coloured elephants are taking over the city during the Elephant Parade London event, with life sized models adding colour and exotic charm to parks, streets and open spaces throughout the capital. Keep your eyes peeled for the unique models while they're around for public view, before they go under the hammer at a massive auction night.
Art installations
Elephant Family is the social enterprise and conservation group responsible for organising the Elephant Parade. London art lovers and fashion fans are bound to enjoy hunting the streets of London in search of the elephant decorated by their favourite artist or designer. Over 25 of the elephants are being housed at The Scoop on the South Bank.
Famous artists
Famous artists who have contributed work to the Elephant Parade London event include Marc Quinn, Emma Sergeant and Storm Thorgerson. Other artists who have donated designs and patterns include Arabella Sim, Jack Vettriano and Nilesh Mistry, who has decorated his model elephant using colourful Farrow & Ball paint.
Fashion designers
If you're a fashion fan, then keep an eye out for the elephants decorated by the likes of John Rocha, Julien MacDonald, Tommy Hilfiger and Lulu Guinness. Other celebrities with models in the Elephant Parade include Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Sir Terence Conran and footballer Graeme le Saux. There's also a Lion King inspired elephant designed by Sacha Jafri
Elephant family is a small but hugely ambitious charity, working to save the Asian elephant from extinction and abuse. They are the UK’s only charity dedicated to the conservation of the endangered Asian elephant both in the wild and in captivity. The charity counts amongst its patrons, Tanaz Dizadji, Goldie Hawn, Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, The Duchess of York and Sir George Martin.
