Phew, we made it

Well, we made it, all in the name of Unmissable and a good charity cause.  Six weeks of, well let’s face it, relatively relaxed training, brought us to our big marketing industry moment at Windsor on Friday at 1pm.  Slotting in amongst the Olympian entrants (2012 will see Dorney Lake hosting rowing and flat-water canoeing in the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012) who headed off about 3 hours earlier than us and were still managing to lap us on the cycling section!  We could but dream of such prowess and spent time dodging the Eurosport TV cameras as they followed the real athletes (although we seemed to keep getting in the way so kept a smile up for the camera).  However, ending a respectable 1st and 2nd in our age categories can’t be bad for a first effort (even if we may well have been the only ones in them?!) and ended with times of 1hr 28 mins (Kate) and 1 hr 30 mins (Justine).  Have to say, the women entrants were a little on the light side so we kept hearing cheers ‘for the ladies’ as we went around as they were so few of us.  JC raised £375 for Clic Sargent who care for children with cancer and would really like to thank everyone who took the time to put a few pounds in the pot, it is much appreciated.

We’re already planning the next and will certainly be back for the Marketing Industry event next year.  Clients are of course welcome to join the team on the next one…?!
