Sailors came from all over the world at the weekend to take place in the Round the Island race around the Isle of Wight which is not only one of the most popular fixtures on the racing calendar but also one of the greatest sailing events in the world! Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races westabout, to The Needles, round St Catherine’s Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy back into the Solent. Spectators can find many vantage points, both on the mainland and Isle of Wight, to watch the 55 mile contest in progress.
