Two weeks to go and the training schedule lurches from being relatively focussed, to more of a ‘well it’s summer where’s the Pimms’ kind of attitude. Last week saw two punishing sessions at the ubiquitous Tooting Bec Lido where we swam amongst some other slightly more serious competitors who were setting their sights of the likes of a 3.4km swim, making our 750m option look like a junior school outing. Nothing like being put in your place. I tried out Daylesford Organic this weekend in the Cotswolds, taking part in a brilliant yoga and fitness weekend taken by Luc Chorley, the French sailing Olympic Champion 3 times over. So I’m feeling upright and chakra strong, whilst Kate’s training has taken a little back seat to a punishing hen weekend at the races! She does have youth on her side though and will no doubt push on through this week. We’ve just seen that Eurosport will be filming at the event so watch out for the Unmissable t-shirts whizzing by in the final stages as we plan to try and don those for the run. Hopefully they won’t be bringing up the rear! I was inspired by Ben Fogle on TV last night though, putting himself into ice cold water for 1 hour, all in the name of competition.
Must try harder is my mantra for this week. Mind you, the pimp is just being unveiled and it’s not looking good for the calorie intake.
